Taraba State Project Coordinator Value Chain Development Program Irimiya Musa said they are committed to boosting food production in Taraba State.
Irimiya Musa in an interview with our reporter in Jalingo, said the project which focuses its activities on rice and cassava has profiled twelve thousand farmers to benefit from its intervention.
Musa revealed that in its eight years of operations in Taraba State, about fifty percent of farmers profiled have been assisted in boosting their production.
The State Project Coordinator said the Value Chain Development Program is bent on providing facilities such as shops, tents, warehouses, and solar-powered boreholes among others to support the activities of farmers in Taraba.
Irimiya Musa said they championed the course of assisting farmers from production and processing to marketing over the years.
The SPC added that seedlings, agrochemicals, fertilizers, and herbicides for farmers as well as linking them to buyers is also the component of the project.
He said that the program also offers capacity building and training for farmers on how to convert their produce to confectioneries such as cakes, biscuits, and rice milk.
Musa said they extended their services to eight local government areas of the state the Ardo Kola, Gassol, Bali, Jalingo, Wukari, Donga, Karim lamido, and Takum.
