There is no Tiv/Jukun crisis in Wukari LGA

Wukari  Local Government Council has refuted claims by some groups of individuals that there is a Tiv/Jukun ethnic crisis in the area.

The Head of Local Government Administration, HOLGA Alhaji Tanko Abdulrahman Suleiman, said in a statement that there was no crisis in Wukari between the Tiv and Jukun people.

He said the public should disregard such claims as the Wukari local government is calm and peaceful.

The statement read part "As part of the effort of the local government to sustain the current peace the area is enjoying, the HOLGA recently held a security meeting with the Chairman and Secretary of the Tiv Cultural Association, Jukun Cultural Association and all the relevant security agencies."

"The local government is surprised that despite this effort, people still go to the press with false information aimed at misleading the general society."

A few days ago Katyo Aondona National President Taraba State Tiv Youth Forum had accused the Wukari Local Council of turning bling to the current crisis between the Tiv and Jukuns in the area.

Katyo Aondona said, "The Taraba state Tiv Youth Forum wishes to draw the attention of Tarabans and Nigerians at large, that right now there is a crisis between Jukun and Tiv in southern Taraba, those who are not blind can attest to our claim."

Governor Agbu Kefas in one of his moves to contain security challenges in the state met with the leaders of the two ethnic groups in Wukari, where he reiterated his comment about securing the lives and property of all Tarabans.

The state is currently facing a myriad of security challenges from farmer/herder crisis to kidnapping.
