Taraba State Governor Pledges Commitment to Quality Healthcare


Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, reaffirmed his administration's dedication to providing top-notch healthcare services to the people of the state.


The Governor made this assertion during a meeting with a medical team from Belgium at the Executive Chamber of the Government House in Jalingo.


Represented by his deputy, Aminu Abdulahi Alkali, the Governor stressed that healthcare is not merely a basic human need but a fundamental right of every citizen. He emphasized that it is the government's collective responsibility to ensure that the people receive not only treatment but also knowledge and resources to lead healthier lives.


Governor Agbu Kefas expressed his commitment to partnering with international organizations for the sake of development and thanked the government of Belgium for their willingness to support the state. He praised Belgium for its advanced healthcare system and medical expertise, stating that it serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for nations worldwide.


Dr. Herman Gezelle, the leader of the Belgian medical team, mentioned that the team had previously worked in Lagos and Enugu States. They plan to provide medical treatment to the people of Taraba State for two weeks.


Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bodiya Buma, explained that the purpose of the visit is to seek collaboration and provide free medical services to the people. The free medical services will be conducted across all sixteen local government areas of the state, with a focus on surgical services during the two-week exercise.
