Taraba State Governor, Doctor Agbu Kefas has sought the cooperation of traditional rulers for the smooth take off of the Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari.
The Governor stated this during the official signing and handing over of the hospital at the exco chamber Government House Jalingo.
He said the milestone signifies the government's unwavering commitment to the advancement of healthcare delivery in the state which traditional rulers have a great role to play in the success story.
Governor Agbu Kefas stressed that all citizens deserve access to quality health care services which his administration is not going to renege on.
He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of health workers who have tirelessly served in various communities of the state stressing that the ceremony is not just a structural handover but a commitment to the wellbeing of the people promising to invest more in the health sector.
Governor Agbu Kefas urged relevant stakeholders in the state and the management of the federal university teaching hospital Wukari to be proactive in discharging their responsibility.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Health in the state Bodiya Buma lauded the efforts of the state and federal government for handing over the general hospital Wukari to the management of the Federal University Teaching Hospital.
Commenting, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal University of Wukari Teaching Hospital, Professor Daniel Egah said the hospital will perform three functions including training of medical personnel, providing tertiary healthcare delivery services, and as well aid medical research.
