The council chairman of the Jalingo local government area of Taraba state, Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan, has presented the 2025 budget of N4.836,821,460.95 billion to the legislative council of the area for approval.
Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan made the budget presentation christened "Budget of Sustainable Growth and Development", on Monday at the legislative council chamber of the council's secretariat, Jalingo.
The chairman noted that N4.8 billion of the total budget has a revenue projection of N3.321bn from the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, while Value Added Tax (VAT) is projected at N1.47bn.
"Our budget is allocated across key subheaded such as personal cost, N1.69bn, representing 35%, overhead cost N967.4 million representing 20%, while N1,45bn is representing 30% for the capital expenditure.
"This budget is a product of careful planning and consultations across all sectors in the council area, such as education, agriculture, healthcare, youth empowerment and infrastructural development.
"Our goal is to ensure that the people of Jalingo benefit directly from the council's activities.
"We aim to continue building on the progress we have made in 2024 while taking bold steps towards new developmental projects.
"The 2025 budget will ensure prudence, transparency, accountability in all government businesses and zero tolerance for corruption", he said.
Receiving the budget proposal, the leader of the legislative, Mr Samaila Usman Maijama'a, promised that the legislative council would give the budget an accelerated hearing and passage.
