From Godwin Agia, Jalingo
The Taraba Government has donated 11 operational Hilux vans to the Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to boost their operational capabilities in the State.
This is contained in a statement signed on Tuesday by Superintendent of Corps Iliya Samaila, Public Relations Officer of the Command, and made available to newsmen in Jalingo.
It stated that while handing over the vehicle keys to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Gov Agbu Kefas of Taraba said the government had deemed it necessary to assist the Corps with logistics to boost its capability to effectively tackle criminality in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The statement quoted Kefas, who was represented by Mr Timothy Kataps, charged the Corps to go after all the criminals operating in the State without any fear as the State government would do everything within its power to support the Corps.
It further stated that Commandant Adamu Salihu, State Commandant of the Corps, while receiving the vehicles, thanked the governor for always providing support to the Corps in times of need.
"I want to thank His Excellency the Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas for seeing the need to boost our operations by donating eleven vans to us.
"This is the first of its kind as far as the NSCDC in Taraba is concerned.
"Two months ago the Governor refurbished all our operational vehicles and today he has given us new ones.
"We are most grateful. We will repay this kind gesture by putting all hands on deck to ensure there is lasting peace and security in Taraba state.
"On this note, let me warn all criminals operating in Taraba to either leave the state or face the re-energized force of the NSCDC." Statement noted.
