The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASSAN, Taraba State Chapter has joined their counterparts across the country to embark on a two-day warning strike.
The industry action is to enforce the implementation of the financial autonomy of the parliamentary staff, signed into law by the previous administration of Muhamadu Buhari.
Speaking to newsmen at the Taraba state state House of Assembly, the state Chairman of PASSAN, Bala Ibrahim Yusuf through his Vice Hamidu Buba said the Union is acting in compliance with the national directive of the association to press home its demands.
He said "We are complying with the directive from the national body to embark on a two-day warning strike, we are dissatisfied with the posture of the government towards the implementation of our financial autonomy"
Hamidu Buba said the warning strike would last for two days after which they will give room for negotiation.
After signing the constitutional amendment that granted financial autonomy to the legislature at the state level in June 2018, former President Muhamadu Buhari set up a Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on the autonomy of state legislature and judiciary, chaired by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami.
The amendment granted autonomy to the legislature at the state level, specifically to ensure the release of sums due to the legislature to them and to be disbursed and applied by them by the approved budget.
